Expedition Programs, Dates, & Prices
In 2011, Benegas Brothers will offer two Everest Expedition packages (BBE Gold and BBE Premium), a Lobuche East Climb, a Khumbu Icefall/Camp 2 climb, and an Everest Base Camp Trek.
BBE Gold Everest Climb
Landcost: $55,000
Dates: March 27- June 1
Client To Guide Ratio: 4:1
Client To Sherpa Ratio: 1:1
Oxygen Allowance: 5 (4 liters) and 1 (3 liters)
As the name implies, this package is the gold standard: you’ll get nothing less than the most comprehensive support in preparations for, during, and after your expedition, and we’ll work with you every step of the way to tailor your schedule to your personal needs.
Included: unlimited consultation with BBE staff; consultation with doctors at the Base Camp Medical Clinic (run by the Himalayan Resc), Icefall fees, all expedition food, communications, oxygen, Sherpa support (including a personal Sherpa climber who will assist with carrying your oxygen and climb with you from South Col to summit and back), and all logistics from Kathmandu to Kathmandu.

BBE Premium
Landcost: $70,000
Dates: March 27- June 1

Client To Guide Ratio: 2:1
Client To Sherpa Ratio: 1:1
Oxygen Allowance: 7 (4 liters) and 1 (3 liters)
This package includes everything covered in the BBE Gold Expedition, but is specifically designed for those who want to maximize their chances of a successful summit by increasing oxygen supplies for the summit push. As on all BBE Everest climbs, on summit day you’ll climb with your own personal Sherpa who will carry your extra bottles. This option also includes a 2:1 client to guide ratio, which both lets us provide the absolute highest level of care.

Note about oxygen:
Our two oxygen programs are described above. On the classic BBE Gold program one 3 liter bottle of oxygen is included for practice on our Camp 3 acclimatization night along with the BBE standard supply for the summit push. You will have the chance to get comfortable with the system including the new Top-out masks we supply.

The oxygen will be provided as follows:
• One 3-liter to practice at Camp 3 during our Acclimatization climb.
• One bottle to sleep at Camp 3 at 1 liter per minute
• One bottle to climb from Camp 3 to Camp 4
• One bottle to sleep in Camp 4 during our rest before the summit push.
• Four bottles for summit push.
We strongly believe in making this trip as safe as possible and with as great a chance of summiting as possible so we have allocated 4 bottles for this portion. This allows us to climb using the maximum flow given by the oxygen system with is 4 liters per minute. Standard flow rates for most expeditions are 2-3 liters per minute. We feel our higher flow rate significantly improves our teams’ performance, safety, and success.
After leading 9 successful expeditions and 10 Everest summits, we at BBE have come to see that for some, particularly those whose style is steady but conservative, another way we to increase our summit odds is to increase our oxygen flow rates on summit day. The premium package is our option for those who want to maximize their chances by turning the oxygen on max for the summit push. With this option, we crank the oxygen up to 7 bottles (4-liter) for the summit push along with the standard 3-liter bottle for the night sleeping at camp 3.
Additional oxygen and personal Sherpa support is available, but must be arranged before the expedition. Please contact our office for additional details of summit climbing program.

Khumbu Icefall/Camp 2 Climb
Landcost: $12,000
Dates: 3/27/11 - 4/25/11

Go to Lobuche Peak for a warm-up, then climb the famous Khumbu Icefall. If you’re a climber who always wanted to see for yourself what Everest is all about, our Khumbu Icefall program provides the chance to go up to Camp 1 and Camp 2. This is serious climbing, with some risk, so you need to be in good shape and have solid skills with crampons, fixed rope, etc. Visit Camp 2 and descend to Base Camp. This is a great practice for climbing Everest!

Classic Everest Trek
Landcost: $5,000
Dates: 3/27/11 - 4/18/11

This is one of the world’s great treks. Accompany the Benegas Brothers’ climbing team and see all the famous sights on the way up the Khumbu Valley. Climb Kala Pattar, rub shoulders with the climbers and see what a real expedition is like. Join in with the expedition Puja ceremony at Base Camp, marking the beginning of the climbing. Then, trek back out to Lukla with our crack Sherpa team for the flight to Kathmandu. What a classic! We have a limited number of positions available for this program.

Lobuche East Peak Climb
Landcost: $6,000
Dates: 3/27/11 - 4/22/11

If you would like to visit Everest Base Camp, and stay longer and go higher, bring your crampons and ice axe and add a climb of Lobuche Peak, over 20,000 feet. We first go to Everest Base Camp for better acclimatization, then our Lobuche climbers, guides, and Sherpas will drop one day back down the valley to climb this beautiful peak, with world class views of Everest from the summit. Afterward, trek back out to Lukla with our Sherpa team for the flight to Kathmandu. From the beautiful Lobuche Base Camp tucked up a side valley from the EBC trek route, the route climbs to a high camp, then from there up rock scrambling to the glacier, which leads to the summit ridge. The steeper parts of the climb to the ridge, on the summit day, are normally fixed with about 500 meters of rope. Lobuche Peak is a perfect objective if you are fit and have Mt. Tronador or Rainier type skills (ice axe, crampons, roped glacier travel). We will review use of fixed ropes for climbers who have not done this before.

Note on dates: The dates listed begin with the day of arrival to Kathmandu and end with the day we’ll arrive back in Kathmandu after the trip.
The ending dates for Everest climbs are flexible, and depend on weather and other conditions. We suggest adding a minimum of a week’s contingency days to these itineraries, and most climbers leave their departure flights flexible until they know exactly when the expedition will end.
The ending dates for all other trips are fixed. We suggest adding one contingency day in Kathmandu
